FAQs

To my clients, these FAQs are attached to and part of our Design Agreement.

Attached to Design Agreement – page 4.

Updated January 2025.

How do I work with you?

We begin with a conversation about your project. I will ask about your overall project goals and timing. We agree upon a Design Scope of Work.

Next, I submit to you an estimate for my time by segments to complete the agreed upon work. I will be your single point person and design advocate from start to finish.  BOOK YOUR CALL NOW.

With your acceptance and receipt of requested retainer, our design collaboration will begin.

Any related material procurement requires signed approval and funds before processing. Therefore nothing will be ordered ahead of your complete buy in.

What do interior designers do?

Simply stated, the single common focus of interior designers is the inside of buildings and rooms. Beyond that every designer and design firm have a unique approach to the process. Various services and components may be included – or excluded. For specifics of what I offer and endeavor to bring to your project, check out the work with kande page.

Understand that there are numerous ways to succeed working with a designer that gets you and that you inherently trust. Invest time in finding the best fit for you and your project.

Here is the checklist I offer as an intial guide to determine the scope of design for your project >

How many people work at Designed Interiors LLC?

Easiest math ever, one.

Me. I am your single point of contact for all of our communications.

With a keen awareness of my personal bandwidth limits, I select the number of project I am committed to at any given time. While there is inevitably overlap, I endeavor for each client to feel that I share their sense of urgency. I do my best to provide prompt and thorough communications.

What additional cost can I expect?

I do my best to give you a full cost outlook but cannot forsee delays that may lead to added freight, storage, delivery or installation or any unexpected labor expense as they do occasionally happen.

Can I shop on my own? (or I already shopped.)

You have hired me to design and complete a vision for your space and I ask that you do not select or pre-purchase items that may not be a fit for achieving a cohesive design. You will receive a detailed specification for items to be purchased directly and not through Designed Interiors LLC.

WARNING FOR EVERYONE! THE BEST FREE DESIGN ADVICE - EVER!!

📱DO NOT SELECT COLORS, MATERIALS, FABRICS AND FINISHES FROM YOUR SCREEN. The is no such thing as “white”, or “green” or “gray” or “brown” or any other word. And, each item is subject to the lighting in the photography, the digital source, your screen tones, the light in the room you are in, and on and on. Just take the time to see it in real life, or know someone who has seen it.

Or roll the dice 🎲

Do you work outside of Colorado?

Yes. If we are able to easily communicate and share virtually and digitally it can work. In the past I’ve worked with clients outside Colorado within the continental US including projects in Arizona, Utah, Florida, New Jersey.

Not only do I work on projects in other states, I often work for clients living in other states with a home in Steamboat. In one instance I began working for newly referred clients in April and completed their extensive remodel and furnishing project by that November when we met in person – for the very first time. It’s all about communication and timing and trust.

Do you work with contractors?

I work with contractors hired by the client. I love working with other design professionals to create your custom space. Designed Interiors LLC does not provide contractor services; so independent architects and contractors hired by the client are an integral part of the process.

There are various project management and oversight services that can mesh with each builder’s specfic method of construction. Helping to execute my design through construction documentation and coordination is often added to, or part of the scope of work.

How long do projects normally last?

This depends on the scope of your project and what materials are purchased. Occasionally there are delays caused by weather, vendor vacations, factory errors and other unpredictable influences that are out of my control. The client along with all professionals hired to work on the project are expected to not cause unreasonable delays in the project.

Can you work with our budget?

Whether you are seeking a custom masterpiece or prefer the retail lines, or a mix of the two, I will help prioritize the spends vs saves to meet your investment goal. Having a budget for your interior finishes and fixtures is very important for your expectations to be met.

What if mid-project I decide I want to add more to the scope?

Since I work hourly, increasing the scope is not a problem.

How do I place an order and pay you?

Once you have received a proposal, you will have 5 business days to either accept or decline the item. For acceptance, a  the requested payment amount implies acceptance and is required before an order is placed. No item will be ordered without payment and your approval.

Most common form of payment is a check picked up or mailed to POB 772105 STEAMBOAT CO 80477, or a credit card online with associated fees. Steamboat locals with YVB accounts – ask me. Venmo or Zelle on occasion.

What if I have concerns about an item?

Please bring any concern to my attention immediately and we will discuss your concerns and if necessary find a more desirable solution. The decision about what is purchased and installed in your home is ultimately yours. I want you to love it!

Can I change my mind after an order is placed?

Most often orders cannot be canceled or refunded. In the event a refund can be attained you may cancel the order and receive a refund minus the cost of all fees – purchasing and restocking and return shipping. CUSTOM ORDERS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
